brief description
Buffalo is high on a good list for a change

story

The next time your friends who live somewhere with nice weather and lots of jobs give you a hard time about living here, just tell them to stick it.  Their mortgage payment, that is.

MSN is out with a list of the country’s most livable, bargain markets for real estate.  That’s a good combination…a nice place to live, and affordable.  And the rankings were done by “Sperling’s Best Places”.  Best places!  And Buffalo-Niagara Falls is number two on the list….behind only Des Moines.  And it’s in Iowa…who’d want to live there anyway?  (Okay, that sounds petty…let’s concentrate on us)

They like the things we like about WNY.  Low commute times to work.  Sports (even when the Bills are as bad as this year).  Culture.  Hear that…culture….and we’re high on the list.  Take that, New York & LA.  They love our architecture….and they say the waterfront is a huge plus.  Just imagine if we ever use it properly.

Yes, they point out our tendency to have a little snow in the winter….but they don’t make a big deal out of it.  (Good thing they don’t watch the local television stations when snow is in the forecast)

What do you think?  What makes us so livable?

it must be our stellar football team and the promise of Bass Pro that makes people want to live here!

most bars per square block in america you barely have time to wipe the puke from your shirt before the bouncer at the next bar is asking for your id

‘cause it costs less to buy a house here than it does to put a down payment on one in Seattle.

Our hookers don't have health insurance! They pass the savings onto the customer (and really, they pass on so much more).

Niagara Falls - One of the Seven Wonders of the World. Such a beautiful place to live.. in minds, but in reality.. the glory days of the buffalo-niagara region will come again!

Let's face it, the food in Buffalo is pretty ridiculous. Everybody who moves away from the area ends up missing and craving it. We have Jim’s Steakout, Mighty Taco, Ted’s Hot Dogs, and then places like Anchor Bar, Chef’s, Buffalo Chophouse and everything in between. We have products like Sahlen’s Hot Dogs, Weber’s Mustard, Chiavettas, Aunt Rosie’s Loganberry, Beef On Weck, and the famous Buffalo Wing. It's clear to me that the great variety of foods really makes Buffalo an enjoyable place to live. Good food and good friends is a winning combination in my book.

In a word, Cheektovegas! More pink flamingos per block than any neighborhood in Florida :)

We're a short drive from wherever you *really* want to be. Um, after paying $9789788 in tolls before you leave, of course. Also, we've got that 'arm and a leg'/chicken jewelry guy. What more does a city need?

Number Two....that sounds about right. Lord knows that is where the Sabres and Bills land when they go to the championships!

It's so livable because if you choose the alternative, you don't have far to travel to throw yourself over the falls!

1. Who doesn't like to live somewhere with a bar or Mom/Pops joint on every corner. 2. With all the abandoned houses anyone can have a house as long as they run the skunks and drug addicts or dealers out first. 3. When the cars parked outside of the HUD houses are worth 2 to 3 times the value of the house you have to think anyone can live here because nobody is really looking at the paperwork.

Buffalo is so affordable to live because the company's that everybody works for do not pay well.

Most of my family has moved away from this area and I thought "why do I find Buffalo most livable and the answer is the people. Man, we are a great bunch. Think of it, even when we had a year when the Bills only won two games(reflect on the OJ glory and some non-glory years) and also the year they greeted Scott Norwood after WIDE RIGHT, we were still fans and cheered louder than anyone in the stands. I do feel the entertainment is great, seeing James Taylor at Shea's was WONDERFUL. And, he was such a great guy waiting to let my daughter get a picture with him in the streets of Buffalo. It just can't get much better. In my heart we are number one not number two, my heart will always be in Buffalo!!!!
